We would love to hear from you!

Thank you for your support and interest in the Forks of the Yadkin and Davie County History Museum (FYDCHM). Let me share some information about our museum. We are trademarked as a 501 C 3 non-profit organization whose mission is: To interpret and preserve the history and culture of the Carolina Backcountry, 1750 to present, using the artifacts, historic structures, farms, and documents of Davie County and surrounding region.

Daniel Boone has been at the forefront of Davie’s History. In fact near the location of our museum office was where Daniel convinced investors to supply and later follow the Boone Trail into the game lands of the Cumberland, Ohio and Tennessee valleys. This westward vision began with resourceful independent Long Hunters armed with the legendary Kentucky Long Rifle. The knowledge, skill and determination demonstrated by these pioneers that had called the Forks of the Yadkin home not only tamed the wilderness but forged a free nation.

Thankfully, resting in Davie County are the remains of Squire, Sarah and Israel Boone the parents of Daniel as well as his brother Israel. Resting near them is one of General Robert E Lee’s most trusted surgeons and nearby rest the inventor of the water boggan whom built the first water park in the United States. Just a stones throw away from the famed inventor is the home of the WW II bombardier on the Enola Gay that dropped the first Atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The story doesn’t end with them but became the impetus that pushed us to create this executive board and build this museum.

Today that same resolve inspired the museum committee to create an independent non-governmental organization that received its non-profit and trademarked status in 2014. Soon and with your help we hope to begin museum construction. We look forward to working with you and others concerned about our nation’s history and build a truly unique historic site show casing American exceptionalism.

Sincerely,
Mark Hager
